Pierce Brosnan on Pan Bahar ad: I was DISTRESSED to learn of Pan Bahar’s unauthorized and deceptive use of my image to endorse their range of pan masala products
Pierce Brosnan on Pan Bahar ad states that he would never have entered into an agreement to promote a product in India that is dangerous to one’s health.
Oops! Looks like Pan Bahar played a bad move on 007! Pierce Brosnan, who has created a name for himself in the industry as the classy hitman has resorted to endorse something not so classy. You all might have seen the very famous and viral Pan Bahar ad that he endorsed for. Tacky as it may be, the ad centralled around Brosnan’s famous Bond image and credited the pan masala for tackling all the perils that falls his way. Twitterati, as usual, was soon to react to this as hate and angst started making its way towards Pierce’s 007 image falling into pieces. But guess what, the Hollywood star claims that he had NO IDEA he was endorsing for a pan masala ad! Can you believe that?
Brosnan exclusively told a leading Hollywood entertainment portal that he wasn’t aware of what he was endorsing. Sounds a little shady, don’t you think? He told People’s magazine, “As a man who has spent decades championing women’s healthcare and environmental protection, I was distressed to learn of Pan Bahar’s unauthorized and deceptive use of my image to endorse their range of pan masala products,” the statement read. “I would never have entered into an agreement to promote a product in India that is dangerous to one’s health.”The Bond actor is “deeply shocked and saddened” by the following events since the ad went viral. “Having endured, in my own personal life, the loss of my first wife and daughter as well as numerous friends to cancer, I am fully committed to supporting women’s healthcare and research programs that improve human health and alleviate suffering,” the statement continued. The License To Kill actor’s contract details that he was to advertise a “breath freshener/tooth whitener,” which wouldn’t include any harmful ingredients that would result to cancer. He agreed to advertise a single product only, i.e. breath freshner/tooth whitner. The statement also added that Pan Bahar “grossly manipulated” media to falsely present him as the brand ambassador of the pan masala product. This, he believes is in violation of his contract. “I shall endeavor to rectify this matter,” the statement concluded. “In the meantime, please accept my sincerest and heartfelt apologies to all whom I have offended.” He has finally reacted to the whole controversy surrounding Pan Bahar. Well, looks like someone made a boo-boo, or did they? If you didn’t know what you were endorsing Mr Bond, we think it’s a bad practice as ignorance isn’t bliss!
