The infamous Uri attacks arouse fierce anger among Indians and also made several call for a blanket ban on Pakistani artistes in Bollywood. While Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is struggling for its release just a week before it was scheduled to hit theatres, here comes another shocker to the nation. If recent media reports are to be trusted, veteran actress Sridevi’s upcoming drama flick ‘Mom’ might have to face hurdles before releasing.
The movie is being helmed by Ravi Udyawar, and stars Pakistani actors Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Ali in significant roles. Adnan will be seen playing Sridevi’s husband and Sajal will be playing the English Vinglish actress’ daughter in the film. The flick also stars Akshaye Khanna, Abhimanyu Singh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in special appearances.
A source was quoted as saying, “After Delhi, we had a two-month schedule in Georgia in May. The remaining portions will most probably be shot in Mumbai but it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon given the current situation. We’re waiting to hear about the final schedule”. Sridevi’s husband and film producer Boney Kapoor, who is bankrolling ‘Mom’, declined revealing about his plans on releasing the film.
Well, if the current situation persists, the film industry might have to go through rough patches before releasing movies featuring artistes from the neighbouring land. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ starring Mahira Khan as the female lead is also a victim of the anti-Pakistan wave in India.
